FundedNext's Stellar 2-Step accounts use a 5% daily loss limit and a 10% maximum loss that is static — the floor is fixed in dollars when you start and never moves up, so every dollar of profit you bank widens your buffer. That changes how you should size: conservative early, and only slightly less so once profit has built a cushion. This calculator is preloaded with FundedNext defaults; enter your balance, risk and stop and it returns the lot size that keeps one loss inside the plan.
How this calculator is set up for FundedNext
The defaults reflect a $100,000 Stellar account risking 1% per trade with a 20-pip stop at $10 per pip per lot — correct for EUR/USD, GBP/USD and other USD-quoted majors. Change the balance to $6K, $15K, $25K, $50K or $200K to match your account. For gold, indices, oil or JPY pairs use the symbol-specific calculators linked at the bottom of the page.
FundedNext rules that decide your lot size
Stellar 2-Step parameters. FundedNext runs several account types with different limits — Stellar 1-Step uses a 3% daily and 6% maximum loss, Stellar Lite 4% and 8%, and Stellar Instant has no daily limit and a 6% trailing maximum — so confirm the figures on the plan you hold.

| Rule | Stellar 2-Step | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Profit target | 8% Phase 1, 5% Phase 2 | Minimum 5 trading days per phase |
| Maximum daily loss | 5% of the initial balance | Measured from the day's starting balance, closed and floating P&L count; resets 00:00 server time (GMT+2, GMT+3 in summer) |
| Maximum loss | 10% | Static — fixed at 90% of the initial balance |
| Consistency rule | None in the challenge phases | Funded account: 40% best-day rule only on the On-Demand reward cycle |
| Profit split (funded) | 80% default, up to 95% | 60% on the 3-day cycle, 90% On-Demand, 95% with the Lifetime add-on |
The static maximum is the friendliest drawdown model in the industry: a $100K account has a $90,000 floor on day one and still has a $90,000 floor after you have made $5,000. The daily limit does not benefit from that cushion — it is always 5% of the initial balance, measured from the balance you start each day with: start the day at $110,000 on a $100K account and the breach level is $105,000.
The lot size formula with FundedNext numbers
Lot size = (Account balance × Risk %) ÷ (Stop loss in pips × Pip value per lot)
Example 1 — the default: $100,000, 1% risk, 20-pip stop on EUR/USD.
- Risk amount: $100,000 × 0.01 = $1,000
- Loss per lot: 20 × $10 = $200
- Lot size: $1,000 ÷ $200 = 5.00 lots
Example 2 — $25K account, tighter stop: 1% risk, 12-pip stop on EUR/USD.
- Risk amount: $250
- Loss per lot: 12 × $10 = $120
- Lot size: $250 ÷ $120 = 2.08 lots
Example 3 — $200K account, 0.5% risk: 30-pip stop on GBP/USD.
- Risk amount: $1,000
- Loss per lot: 30 × $10 = $300
- Lot size: 3.33 lots
Sizing to the 5% daily limit and the static floor
Two constraints shape FundedNext sizing. The daily limit sets how many stop-outs you can take in a session:
| Risk per trade | Losses before a 5% daily breach | Losses before a 10% max breach |
|---|---|---|
| 2.0% | 2 | 5 |
| 1.0% | 5 | 10 |
| 0.5% | 10 | 20 |
The second constraint is the 10% static floor, which caps how many losses you can take in total — and unlike the daily limit, it moves further away as you bank profit. There is no consistency rule in the Stellar 2-Step challenge, so a large winner counts in full toward the 8% target; the reason not to size up for one is the downside: at 3% risk, two losers in one day breach the 5% daily limit. At 1% risk a 3R winner still makes $3,000 on $100K, more than a third of the Phase 1 target. Sizing at or below 1% keeps you on the right side of both limits.
Common sizing mistakes on FundedNext accounts
- Treating the static floor as a licence to size up. Profit widens the maximum-loss buffer, not the daily buffer. A 5% daily limit is the same on day 30 as on day 1.
- Forgetting the payout cycle's rule. If you choose the On-Demand reward cycle on the funded account, your best day may not exceed 40% of the profit, so one oversized winner can delay a payout.
- Same lots on gold as on EUR/USD. Gold's dollar-per-pip and daily range are both much larger; use the XAU/USD calculator.
- Sizing on the chart stop. Add spread and slippage before you divide.
- Open positions through the 00:00 server-time reset (GMT+2, GMT+3 in summer). A floating loss counts against the new day's limit from the first minute.
Track your FundedNext challenge in Fips
Fips's free trading journal logs every trade with its R-multiple, keeps a running daily P&L against the 5% line, and shows which setups have been generating the losses. Connect an MT5 or cTrader account and trades import automatically. Use the backtesting tools to read a strategy's worst losing streak before you pay for an evaluation — if it has strung five losses together historically, a 1% model is at the edge of the daily limit and you should know that in advance.
Frequently asked questions
What lot size should I use on a $100K FundedNext account?
At 1% risk and a 20-pip stop on a USD-quoted major, 5 lots; at 0.5% risk, 2.5 lots; at a 40-pip stop, half of each. The lot size follows the stop and the risk, not the account alone.
Is FundedNext's drawdown static or trailing?
On Stellar 2-Step, 1-Step and Lite accounts the maximum loss is static; on 2-Step the floor is fixed at 90% of the initial balance and does not rise with profit. Stellar Instant uses a 6% trailing maximum instead. The daily limit resets at 00:00 server time from that day's starting balance.
Does FundedNext have a consistency rule?
Not in the Stellar 2-Step challenge phases. On the funded account a 40% best-day rule applies only if you choose the On-Demand reward cycle; the default 21-day cycle and the 3-day cycle have none. Keeping risk at or below 1% per trade keeps any single day from dominating your profit either way.
Does the daily loss include floating losses?
Yes. It is measured on equity, so open positions count in real time.
